Q: What are alpha hydroxy acids and what do they actually do?
A: Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are "naturally occurring" acids. AHAs work to break down dead skin cells and speed up exfoliation. As a result, new, healthy skin cells are produced faster enabling you to have a radiant, youthful appearance. There are many different kinds of AHAs and they come in different strengths. AHAs that you obtain through a physician tend to be stronger and have higher concentrations. Also important, is the availability of educated staff, trained in the proper instruction and use of AHAs in a managed and supervised skin care program.
 


Q: What is hyperpigmentation?
A: Hyperpigmentation refers to patchy areas of brown spots in the skin. Hyperpigmentation is a common problem for those who have had excessive sun exposure, are taking synthetic hormones or are under going hormonal changes such as pregnancy. Fortunately, new strides have been made in the development of pigment control skin products and skin peels that can effectively diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation to give the skin a much more even tone and youthful appearance.


 

Q - It appears that many of Oxygen Botanicals™'s products contain Paraben based derivatives. Is these ingredients dangerous?

A - In regard to your concerns about the Parabens (Methyl, Propyl, etc.) contained within the Oxygen Botanicals™ line. The Parabens in this situation are specifically used as preservatives that have been scrutinized and subsequently
approved by Health Canada, the FDA (Food & Drug Administration - USA), and other consumer-protection watchdogs all over the world for many years. The percentages involved are very, very small, and as such, are definitely not
harmful to the end user in any way. Also, these preservatives are being utilized in topical applications and certainly not being used for ingestible products whatsoever.
 

Q - Does Oxygen Botanicals™ creams contain steroids? If there are steroids, what is the level and what types of steroids are being included?

A - There are absolutely no steroids in any of Oxygen Botanicals™ products.
